Chianti on Colin's Restaurant

Chianti on Colin's self-proclaimed themselves to be one of Perth's longest established Italian fine dining restaurants.

The business name 'Chianti on Colin's' was registered on 26 April 1991 and although it has a 'cancelled' status on the ASIC Connect website, the trading name shows that it was registered from 01 October 2001 and is still current on the Australian Business Register with a current ABN registered under trading activities.

Interestingly, they were named on the Horse Meat Watch as having horse meat on the menu.

The property was built in 1900 on a 652 m² block and has been sold four times:

·         March 2019 - $2,180,000

·         August 2014 - $2,350,000

·         September 2003 - $1,400,000

·         February 1991 - $510,000

By 2014, the restaurant had closed after some five years. It’s difficult to find any positive comments for the restaurant that promoted themselves with keywords such as “fine dining” and one of the best and longest established Italian restaurants in Perth.

In May of the same year and sometime after the restaurant had become vacant, a fire was set in the building causing an approximate $700,000 worth of damage.

In December 2015, the City of Perth approved demolition of this site for the purposes of constructing a two level restaurant. Neither the demolition nor the redevelopment went ahead.

The building was finally demolished in October 2021, after years of housing a number of homeless drug users.

Today, it is a construction site for the upcoming Éclat Apartments.
