Mosman Park rallies against loneliness
MOSMAN PARK ● 14 February 2026
Mosman Park residents and community groups have rallied to tackle loneliness and social isolation following the deaths of three members of the Clune family.
Fariba Fanaian became involved after learning that one of the men had died alone in his apartment and was not found for some time. She said the tragedy highlighted how people could live surrounded by others but remain isolated because they did not know how to approach or connect with their neighbours.
Fanaian helped organise a vigil for the family and has since established regular community barbecues through her Social Minds group. The events are intended to give residents an informal place to meet their neighbours, particularly people experiencing isolation or loneliness.
Mosman Park Sisterhood and Harmony Baptist Church are also planning additional opportunities for community connection, while a group of local young people will help organise an event with community groups.
Mayor Paul Shaw said the council supported community groups that were already connected with residents and able to identify local needs, rather than trying to replicate their work.
