Midvale - Everything She Couldn't Take
The house was constructed in 1940 and first sold on 27 September 1982 for $131,000. It is now owned by the Commissioner of Main Roads, although the exact year of transfer is unclear and appears to have occurred sometime after 2016.
The husband passed away in 2014 at the age of 84. In the years that followed, the wife was reportedly required to move into a retirement or nursing home. A garage sale was held in an attempt to clear the property, though only a small portion of the accumulated possessions could be sold.
It was previously believed that the neighbouring truck-related property had acquired the site, however available records do not support this. This is unsurprising, given the steady expansion of the surrounding housing estate, which continues to encroach on former cottages, stables and farm properties in the area.
The wife died in 2024, aged 95.
