Dianella 6B Ashington Street

Built as a duplex in 1969, 6A and 6B were owned separately for decades, with 6A last selling in 2002, before both properties were acquired together under a single owner in 2023.

They were sold on the same day, 8 June 2023, with 6B selling for $540,000 and 6A for $361,000, both acquired by Platinum Global Investment Group Pty Ltd.

Prior to this, 6A had last changed hands in January 2002 and had been rented out with $330 per week in 2015, dropping to $250 per week in 2018, before later being advertised at $495 per week in June 2024 following the acquisition. 6B had also been used as a rental, advertised at $300 per week in August 2018.

Demolition and redevelopment

The property was demolished in April 2025 under a single permit pathway. While the site appears to remain vacant, the only development activity that can be identified is matching building permits for swimming pools on both 6A and 6B.

Platinum Global Investment Group

The redevelopment is tied to Platinum Global Investment Group Pty Ltd, an entity registered in June 2022 which holds a growing portfolio of properties. In March 2025, immediately prior to the demolition of the Ashington Street site, the company registered four business names: “Platinum Demolition,” “Platinum Siteworks,” “Platinum Construction Transport” and “Platinum Construction Equipment.”

The use of the name “Platinum Demolition” has historical precedent but no direct continuity. Wild Oakes Pty Ltd, registered in 2006, previously held the business name “Platinum Demolition” from December 2006 until it was cancelled in December 2015. Despite the cancellation of the business name, Wild Oakes Pty Ltd itself appears to have remained an active company. Separately, Platinum Demolition Pty Ltd was registered in December 2021 before being deregistered in 2024 following an ASIC-initiated strike-off. These entities share only the use of a similar name at different points in time.

Business name registrations

Under Australian business registration rules, business names do not retain legal history once cancelled and can be reused by unrelated parties. As such, the reappearance of “Platinum Demolition” in 2025 under Platinum Global Investment Group Pty Ltd does not indicate any transfer, takeover or continuation of the earlier businesses. There is no evidence of shared directors, ownership links or operational continuity between Wild Oakes Pty Ltd, the later deregistered Platinum Demolition Pty Ltd and the current use of the name.

6A Ashington Street

I was unable to photograph 6A, as the property appeared to be squatted at the time. A man on a bicycle repeatedly rode past the site, appearing to watch us as he passed.

Dianella 20 Gifford Way

20 Gifford Way in Dianella was built in 1968 on an 850sqm block and remained a single residential dwelling for decades before being sold on 2 March 2021 for $780,000 to private buyers.

The property was demolished in March 2025, clearing the site for redevelopment. Shortly after, a development application was lodged on 14 April 2025 for the construction of a new house, with an estimated value of $1,067,102. The proposed dwelling, built by Novus Group / Vision One Homes, sits on a 403sqm footprint.

Construction had commenced by August 2025, marking a relatively quick turnaround from demolition to build phase.

Further development activity followed later in the year, with a swimming pool application lodged on 30 November 2025, valued at $59,625 and associated with a reduced built area of 321sqm.

Dianella Grand Prom 270

270B Grand Promenade in Dianella was built in 1949 on a 168sqm lot with a floor area of 129sqm. It first sold on 1 August 1949 for $85,000, before later selling for $310,000 on 28 June 2010 and $750,000 on 18 September 2022. The property was subsequently listed for rent at $450 per week on 23 November 2022.

270A Grand Promenade was built later in 1976 and sold on 6 April 1991 for $65,000. It was listed for rent at $270 per week on 19 May 2021 before also selling on 18 September 2022 for $750,000, aligning with the sale of 270B.

At the time of photographing 270B, it wasn’t clear that the property formed part of a duplex, hence why I didn’t document 270A. Given its later construction in 1976, it’s unlikely to have retained the same character or level of detail as the original 1949 dwelling.

A demolition permit covering both 270A and 270B was approved in January 2024, with both dwellings demolished in March 2024.

The site has since been redeveloped, with three new houses constructed across the combined lots following demolition, significantly increasing the density of the original site.
