09 - Ranford Metronet Bridge

Metronet Bridge

The Metronet Road Bridge was rebuilt between 2002-2024 as part of the Thornlie-Cockburn Link Metronet project. Standing 1.2m higher and 15m longer, it includes six lanes, a bus lane and shared cycle-pedestrian path.

Previously the bridge only allowed for two lanes in each direction.

Construction of the bridge using a staged approach limited the disruption to traffic, by way of demolishing and rebuilding sections.

Forming an integral part of the new Metronet Road Station, the bridge was rebuilt to accommodate both electric passenger trains and the existing freight trains travelling underneath.
