18 - Kwinana Industrial Train Tower

Kwinana Train Tower

The signal box was decommissioned in 2002 and all signalling controls are now done from a centralised computer room located in Midland.

Particularly due to broken asbestos, the tower is said to have been earmarked for demolition for quite some time but action is still yet to be taken. Interestingly, someone recently commented on Facebook that according to the Heritage Minister, the Kwinana Signal Cabin is NOT slated for demolition. Another person, who stated he was part of the team that decommissioned the signal box, was told at the time the tower would be preserved and may be moved to Whiteman Park.

The train yard further down is still in use.
