Beckenham Industrial Recycling

It's very hard to find any information associated with this Sevenoaks Street address in Beckenham, other than it was registered to A to Z Recycling, who now have an address listed in Neerabup.

These photos were taken in June 2020 and I have no idea how long this site has been disused for. The adjoining property has been completely demolished, with big piles of concrete and building rubble lying along the inside perimeter. Landgate shows it is a different property but perhaps it was used together with this waste treatment and disposal management facility.

Bellevue Midland CBH Wheat Silo

Constructed in 1954 by Italian immigrants who'd come over from Victoria, the Co-operative Bulk Handling (CBH) Wheat Silo was located at 57 Elgee Rd Bellevue until it was demolished in May 2016.

Construction of the silo cost approximately £464,000 and contained "self-supporting steel arches" weighing a total of 600 tonnes, with every 200 feet span "being hinged to 52 concrete buttresses to allow the roof to contract and expand".

The grain transfer system was constructed to connect the silo to the rail line.

A portion of a wall was kept and intended to be incorporated into the site's future development but was later demolished in 2019, prior to the construction of the Bellevue Railcar Manufacturing and Assembly Facility.
